Sexy Women in Horror Movies
83No need to go trick-or-treating this year because I have a treat for you; sexy scream queens! Horror movies are not just for Halloween. They're released year round for a devoted cult of spooked adrenaline junkies in search of the ultimate scare and waiting in suspense to see the next hot, scantily clad actress run and tremble in fear for two hours.
I admit, for one brief moment in my high school years, I had a secret desire to be a scream queen in a horror flick, but I didn't have the guts (or gore) for anything too scary. I was in drama club and often played the villains because it was funner and safer. Being a villain is completely different than being the victim chased and tortured around every corner, constantly out of breath as if it might be their last, and screaming for no one to hear. No thanks, I'll leave that to the pros.
I began braving the occasional horror movie in the early 90's. The 90's brought a whole new scene to horror movies with a pop culture twist. The new scream queens had sex appeal portrayed in a less victimized role; scared with wide-eyed fear, sexy, but willing to fight. Yes, the scream queen role has evolved over the years since Jamie Lee Curtis in "Halloween".
#1 Jennifer Love Hewitt in I Know What You Did Last Summer
Jennifer Love Hewitt played Julie James in the 90's teen pop culture horror movie, "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and the sequel. For me, this marked the beginning of pop culture horror movies along with "Scream". This was Jennifer's debut as a scream queen and a different role for her compared to the role in TV show "Party of Five". After this movie, she was immediately acknowledged as an actress and sex symbol. Now she speaks to ghosts in her TV series "The Ghost Whisperer", proving spooky and sexy is what she does best.
#2 Jessica Biel in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
What would the "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" be without a sultry scream queen? That, and maybe another sequel, pre-prequel, or number IIII beside it's title. Jessica Biel played Erin in this 2003 version, technically the remake of the original 1974 movie. You can add her to the list of hot horror women because she played the part well, with a little more guts than glory.
#3 Jordana Brewster in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre; The Beginning
While we're on the topic of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"- it's one those horror flicks that frighten me the most because it's based on a true story. Jordana Brewster, also in "The Fast and The Furious", plays Chrissie in this prequel/origin of 2006, painting the picture of a monstrous man, supposedly a serial killer. And to think she ALMOST got away.
#4 Milla Jovovich in Resident Evil
Alright guys, I know you were waiting for her to show up. When you mention the deadly, but sexy battle of evil vs. woman, of course Milla Jovovich in Resident Evil comes to mind. It's also a video game which might it all that more appeasing. Milla Jovovvich, a model as well, plays a kick butt Alice in a not so whimsical Wonerdland in Resident Evil.
#5 Radha Mitchell in Pitch Black, The Crazies, and Silent Hill
Radha Mitchelle, an Austrailian beauty, has appeared on the big screen in several spooky thrillers: "Pitch Black", but oddly I didn't notice her because I was busy looking at Vin Diesel- I guess she was in that movie. The two other movies I did notice her in were "The Crazies" (excellent movie, by the way), and "Silent Hill" (Haven't seen it), but I know it's based on the survival horror video games along with your other favorite, "Resident Evil".
#6 Sarah Michelle Gellar in The Grudge
I had to post the token shower scene photo because it's iconic of a horror flick. Horror movies need shower steam almost as much as they need blood and gore to set the mood. "The Grudge" gave me nightmares. See! I told you I am a chicken, but it's based on an endless curse that kills a person then it's passed on to kill someone else. like a bad chain email. I'm even suspicious of those too. Even the trailer for the movie was spooky.
#7 Odette Yustman in The Unborn and And Soon The Darkness
Odette Yustman plays Casey, a girl haunted by her unborn twin in "The Unborn". She also plays an even more scantily clad Ellie in "And Soon The Darkness".
#8 Neve Campbell in Scream 1, 2, 3, and possibly 4?
Neve Campbell has to have some record for best returning scream queen to horror movie sequels. She has played Sydney in "Scream" 1,2,3, and now in the 4th one coming next year, 2011. You've got to admire her tenacity for hanging in there and surviving 4 brushes with death. I think some people are actually cheering on the masked Scream killer to destroy her once and for all.
#9 Melissa George in The Amityville Horror
Melissa George plays an excellent scream queen role in this remake of "Amityville Horror", released in 2005. And of course this is another one of those horror movies based on an (alleged) true story so it's spookier than most. Murders and paranormal experiences are just one feature of this film because smoking hot Melissa George is the other crucial part of the equation.
#10 Halle Berry in Gothika
Halle Berry plays a psychologist in a women's mental hospital in the 2003 movie, "Gothika". I began my schooling in Psychology with hopes of working with the more extreme mentally ill people, but had a fear of becoming mentally ill myself. Possibly like medical students begin thinking they have every disease while learning about them. I realized it's not a big leap for anyone to go insane at the drop of a hat. In Gothika, this fear is entertained when Halle is put behind institution bars herself for a crime she didn't commit. This movie is a great combination of hot scream queen, psych thriller, and scary gore scenes.

Good list. I'd have included Naomi Watts from "The Ring" films as well. But I love Jennifer Love Hewitt.
And while they may not be politically correct anymore, I have a fondness for the old scream queens like Janet Leigh in "Psycho".
I have not seen 1 of these movies but after seeing the photos I'm thinkin' maybe I should:-) I do love Jennifer Love Hewitt though but I'm not giving up on seeing you in one of these outfits. I bet none of them are 6' tall:-) Good hub, Peace!! Tom
I voted for Odette, maybe because My twins were extras in the Unborn. They were the spooky little faces on the top bunk of the concentration camp scene.
I have never seen a horror movie and I have no plans to see one; life is scary enough so I have no need to see a pritty woman screaming :-)))
Interesting list. This is genre that I have avoided since the 1960's. Even though the actresses look appealing I don't know if they would be worth sitting through the rest of the film.
Great hub! Great pics!
I like em all, a scary horror movie would not be as effective without a scantily clad beauty running around being chased down by the killer:0) I voted for Halle Berry she is a beauty for sure, but all the rest were a bonus.
Jennifer Love Hewitt I never miss on Ghost Whisperer, it's a fun show with all those ghosts appearing all over the place and Jen is easy on my eyes to. Thanks for the share, I loved the eye full.
Good selection, but because I am a fan I prefer the Jennifer Love Hewitt. Thanks.
Dang! I knew I shouldn't have looked at this hub. How am I gonna get through the day with the image of these hot babes in my head!!
Thanks a lot!!
Andy
I love this information. I agree with you, they all so sexy. I can't blink to see this beauty. They have a big role to make these film success. Thanks for showing me. Vote up.

You've presented a fine collection of some of my favorite screamers. You're right about playing the villian...it was always more fun to portray the bad guy!
I'm all about Jennifer Love Hewitt. Great selection of photos here too. Would love to see you include some older scream queens here, too--Jamie Lee Curtis was quite a looker back in the day, and so was her mom.
I am happy to say I've never seen any of these movies.
But I'd vote for Halle Berry if she was just standing there reading a phone book!
I must be the exception. Ask me to recall the scary scene and plot of a horror flick I've seen. But the scream queen????With the exception of Jamie Lee Curtis in Halloween and Sigourney Weaver in Aliens. Of course their characters portrayed strong personalities. None of that eeeeEEEEEEHHHH stuff. :)
Asian horror I believe are scarier. Western horror tend to have a more cerebral approach rather than through the human emotion and instinct. Like a roller coaster ride, it is after all the thrill of the ride than matters and not the how and why the law of physics or gravity works.:)
I have seen all the Hanibal series and I'm also a "psych" fan. Although they have a slower tempo they keep us in a roller coaster ride as measured by our heart's palpitations :) due the suspense. It does not necessarily mean that the action be fast paced but some "cerebral" horror flick tend to get drawn out and bog down with boring rationalization.
This is why I love watching horror movies..really ;)
Jessica Biel for me.
Rated it and following you. Looking forward for your hubs. Don't forget to check my hubs too :)
I remember thinking that the girl in texas chainsaw massacre was hot but never knew her name untill now. Thanks.
Excellent list of movies and great photos!
So many horror movies..so many vixens!
I really like this hub!!!
Sure, two of my favorite subjects, Sexy Women, and horror movies!! LOL
Izettl, since you are 6' tall and as you can see from my picture, I am only about 9" tall, you should pick on someone your own size!!! LOL, so what is your sweet spot??? Gotcha!!

Wow, izettl, you human Alpha-Females are quite demanding, how does one stay on your good side? LOL

Great selection, izettl, of gorgeous scream queens in gory films. My favorite was "Gothika" with Halle Berry.
There is also a frightening film in theaters at present: "Case 39" with Renee Zellweger. There were two or three moments when I literally jumped from my seat. Scary!!!
